We in the AAFMCC Leadership are proud to announce the creation of two new Scholarship programs toward the cost of taking classes at MCC.  

The first, the AAFMCC Family Scholarship, is for $1000 per academic year ($500 per fall and winter term) and is designated specifically for the child of an AAFMCC Member.  

The second, the AAFMCC Community Scholarship, is also for $1000 per academic year ($500 per fall and winter term) and is designated for any member of the local community.  

Scholarships are based primarily on merit but special circumstances are also taken into consideration. To apply please

ATTENTION MCC ADJUNCT FACULTY:

Webadvisor is now capable of receiving your availability declarations for the Spring/Summer and Fall 2016 Terms.  According to Section 4 of the AAFMCC Contract all adjuncts must declare their availability to teach for BOTH the Spring/Summer and Fall 2016 Terms via Webadvisor by the third Monday in March (21st).  The directions for accessing the “Adjunct Availability” page on Webadvisor have been pasted below.

In order to increase visibility of adjunct instructors on campus and to highlight the important contribution adjuncts make to Macomb Community College’s educational community, the Association of Adjunct Faculty of Macomb Community College announces our first ever “Adjunct Awareness Week” to be held February 29 through March 6, 2016.

During Adjunct Awareness Week, we encourage you to join in solidarity with your colleagues by doing the following:

  •  Wear an “A is for Adjunct” sticker during class and around campus.Stickers will be distributed to adjunct mailboxes during the week of February 22

Proposal

Macomb Community College’s President, Board of Trustees, and administrators should expand the college’s full-time Tuition Reimbursement Program by extending the benefit to part-time employees, thereby allowing them to be reimbursed for coursework completed while pursuing higher education opportunities not available at Macomb Community College, and by increasing the size of the fund available for reimbursements. 

We believe that achieving parity between full-time and part-time employees regarding this benefit is an important step in building and maintaining a professional educational

Routinely getting classes or having your schedule or textbook changed hours before a class started, and often after you’d made commitments to other jobs; sweetheart deals; inconsistent raise, peer review and administrative policies; lack of grievance procedures; working in fear that you had no other protection for your position than the good graces of your superiors and all the while whispering with colleagues in dark corners that there had to be a better way.
