As the winter 2016 term gets underway we in the union leadership wanted to take a moment to welcome you all back and bring you up to date on a few union matters.

[1] Changes in Union Dues Rate
We are happy to announce a reduction in the dues rate for members from 1.8%-1.75%.  The fee payer rate will remain at 1.6%.

[2] AAFMCC Winter GMM
We are planning to hold a General Membership Meeting in late Winter or early Spring.  Please check your MCC e-mail for details.

[3] SS and Fall’16 Availability Reminder
According to the AAFMCC Contract adjuncts must indicate their availability to teach for the Spring/Summer and Fall 2016 Terms via WebAdvisor no later than the third Monday in March (21st).  We will send out another reminder once those terms are available for access on WebAdvisor.  As always we encourage adjuncts to indicate as wide an availability as possible to insure employment.  Please see Section 4 of the AAFMCC Contract (available on this site) for policies on the “Selection of Teachers.”

[4] AAFMCC Tuition Reimbursement Program (TRP)
We are pleased to announce that the amount for Tuition Reimbursement has been raised to $1000 per term to take a course here at MCC.  If you’ve registered for a course this term or if you’ve been thinking about taking one in the future and are a full member of AAFMCC there is still time to take advantage of this program.  Contact the union at aafmcc@gmail.com for details.  At this time only full members of the AAFMCC are eligible but we are exploring the possibility of extending the program to spouses and/or offspring.

[5] AAFMCC Family and Community Scholarship Programs
We are excited to announce the creation of two (2) new scholarship programs sponsored by the AAFMCC: one $1,000 annual scholarship exclusively for the offspring of one of our members; and one $1,000 annual scholarship for a member of the general community.  Both Scholarships will be posted on MCC’s “OASIS” system this summer in time for the fall, 2016 term.  Payments are made via the “Macomb 1 Card” and are spread over two (2) terms ($500 each fall and winter).  We encourage all interested members, their families and friends to apply for one of these scholarships.  More details will follow as the time for applications approaches.
